There are several good comparative reviews of Joomla and Drupal available on the internet. However these reviews are often out of date and fail to quantify the tradeoffs involved in selecting one CMS over the other. We are asking professionals familiar with these content management systems to take a survey about the relative strengths and weaknesses of Joomla and Drupal.
Our survey research will update the analysis of these two content management systems, provide a more rigorous basis for evaluation, and quantify the tradeoffs. We hope this will lead to a better understanding the tasks to which each CMS is best suited.
Most comparisons of Drupal and Joomla conclude that you should select the one that best suits your needs. However, they give too little guidance about how to do that. We will address this issue by basing our recommendations on the general consensus of the user community, as revealed in the survey responses. We believe this will help others make more informed decisions about what CMS to select and make more appropriate decisions.
The survey should take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete. It includes questions about the your background, about your opinions of Drupal, and about your opinions of Joomla. Please take some time to complete our Drupal vs. Joomla survey. It will popup in a new window.
Our goal is to get 300 survey responses. So please spread the word. Tell your friends. Send as many people as you can. This is an important subject that hasn't examined carefully enough.
UPDATE: The survey has been completed. You can now examine the results of the Druapal vs Joomla Survey.
